I’m kind of a sci-fi buff. I’m always thinking about the technological future. Some interesting things on the horizon are medical advances, such as the ability to repair damaged hearts. We’re also getting closer to having constant surveillance and the ability to send small, remotely-controlled robots around to spy on people. These kinds of technologies are biblically relevant for more than one reason. Prophetically they are very relevant, I believe. The society of the “last days” appears to be a society that is similar to ours in technological advancement. In fact, in about 50 to 100 years, unless some kind of dark age occurs and there are major societal setbacks, technology will likely pass beyond the level being indicated in the Bible for the final years before Jesus comes back.
Why? Here are some things that could happen relatively soon that would seem to disagree with the prophecies of the Bible:
The Bible also says that “knowledge shall increase” (Daniel 12:4) during the last days. This certainly has been happening, but who knows how long that can continue to happen. It would seem to be indicating that no massive, technological dark age will occur before the return of the Lord.
All of this, to me, indicates that there is an upper limit to how long it will be before the “end”.

Possible Hints to the Technology of the “End Times”
The shields of his mighty men are made red,
Why? Here are some things that could happen relatively soon that would seem to disagree with the prophecies of the Bible:
- Ability to detect asteroids early and redirect them (2050 – 2200)
- Ability to easily track/find people and prevent people from hiding – relates to Rev. 12:14 (2040 – 2080)
- Population projections indicate that the cultural diversity of the world will diminish drastically (2070 – 2120)
- Globalization pace indicate a global economic unification relatively soon (2030 – 2100)
- Ability of Israel to survive through natural means decreases through time
- Men’s hearts failing them for fear (Luke 21:26) would not be plausible when heart-strengthening treatments become widespread (2050 – 2150)
- Weather control that could prevent large hail as described in Rev 16:21 (2100 – 2300)
